Whole Body MRI
Comprehensive Preventive Imaging

Radiation-free, head-to-pelvis MRI surveillance across 14+ organ systems. Perth’s most comprehensive preventive imaging service — performed on a 3 Tesla high-field scanner with diffusion-weighted imaging.
Our Mission

What Is Whole Body MRI Perth?

A whole body MRI is a non-invasive, radiation-free imaging scan that examines multiple organ systems — from the brain and spine to the abdomen, pelvis, and bone marrow — in a single, continuous session. Using powerful magnetic fields and radiofrequency pulses rather than ionising radiation, it creates detailed images of your internal anatomy without any cumulative radiation burden.

At Whole Body MRI Perth, our protocol uses a 3 Tesla (3T) high-field scanner combined with advanced diffusion-weighted imaging (DWIBS) — the same technology validated in leading international oncology and preventive medicine centres. This produces superior image quality and significantly enhanced sensitivity for early malignant tissue compared to standard 1.5T protocols.

What Does It Assess?

Brain — tumours, vascular abnormalities, white matter disease, pituitary lesions

Spine & spinal cord — disc disease, metastatic deposits, cord compression

Thorax — mediastinal lymph nodes, cardiac structures, pleural findings

Liver — lesions, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, haemangiomas

Pancreas — cystic lesions, early adenocarcinoma

Kidneys & adrenal glands — masses, cysts, adrenal incidentalomas

Spleen — splenomegaly, lesions

Pelvic organs — prostate, uterus, ovaries, bladder

Bone marrow throughout — haematological malignancies, metastases

Lymph nodes throughout — lymphoma staging and surveillance

Common Questions

Yes. MRI uses magnetic fields and radiofrequency waves — not ionising radiation. There is no cumulative radiation risk, making it appropriate for annual surveillance. Standard safety screening is conducted for all patients.

A GP referral is recommended and facilitates good continuity of care, but is not strictly required for elective preventive scanning. No referral unlocks a Medicare rebate, as this service is not currently listed on the Medicare Benefits Schedule.

Your written radiologist report is typically available within 2–5 business days. Clinically urgent findings are communicated sooner. A post-scan medical consultation is included to discuss your results.
